There’s been plenty to talk about in the world of technology this week. Amongst the usual stories and leaks, we’ve seen several releases and a plethora of rumours emerge, so we’ve got plenty to talk about.

And what better way to digest it all than with Mobile News in Brief – get involved and get up to date. We’ll see you next week for another dose.

Phones 4u silent smartphone cinema

Everyone loves movies, and everyone loves free stuff, so what about some free movies? That’s exactly what the Phones 4u Silent Smartphone Cinema is offering on the 25 and 26 May – pop along and you can watch a film for nowt on a Sony Xperia Z2. Not only that, but you get some popcorn on the house and all. Definitely worth checking out.

HTC One (M8) key features

It’s well established that the HTC One (M8) is a smashing handset. We’ve already done you a nice review and guide, but this week we also got involved with some of its features. So if you want to know just how to use the excellent BlinkFeed and Duo Camera, you know exactly where to go.

HTC One mini 2 hands-on review

It’s been a busy period for HTC, and rather than rest on its laurels it’s dived right back in the smartphone pool. This time it’s the HTC One mini 2, a downsized version of the M8, and we travelled down to sunny Slough to give it a brief hands-on. Read the review here, and watch the video above.

Moto E announced

Another firm with an increasing reputation is Motorola, what with the Moto G proving everyone’s smartphone pick at the moment. But, not content with offering a great phone at a generous price, it went one further this week and added even more value with the Moto E. The device is cheaper than the G, and offers some decent specs in return.

Let’s Go Retro – Facebook

You’ll be hard pressed to find someone without a Facebook account these days. The social network is well established as a major pain in the backside, but did you know that it’s been ruining lives for 10 years now? Chief nostalgia-ist Stef Keeling gave it the Let’s Go Retro treatment this week, complete with puns-a-plenty, as usual.

Sony Xperia M2 review

And, as if all that wasn’t enough for you, we’ve only gone and done another review. This time it’s the impressive looking mid-ranger from Sony, the Xperia M2. Featuring scaled down specs from its cousin, the Z2, it looks to be the perfect marriage between performance and price. But how does it rate overall? Over to Ross Campbell for the review lowdown.
